I've played many RPG's but have yet to see anything like this one. The gameplay of Golden Sun is very unique. Overall, I would recommend Golden Sun to any fan of RPGs, or even just someone looking for a satisfying experience on the GBA.Īn excellent RPG to add to any collection. You have to expiriment to find the right combination! However, if you attach a fire Djinn to the same earth Adpet, he will lose his stats and psynergy and take on completely different ones. If you equip earth elemental Djinn to your Earth adept, then his abilites with strengthen for each Djinn equipped, and he might gain new Psynergy. It adds a level of depth that no other turn based RPG replicates.ĭjinn can change you abilities as well. You can put your Djinn on standby before a fight so you can summon immediately, you can release each Djinn during battle and activate the abilities as you see fit, then summon for a finisher, you can simply keep the Djinn active and fight just using Psynergy, or you can use a combination. There are multiple strategies you can use to fight a boss. Depending on the amount of Djinn released, you can summon a very powerful being that deals a ton of damage.ĭjinn are basically what adds variety to the combat. For example, during battle you can release a Djinn to damage and enemy, but you lose the stats that it provided you. You also encounter Djinn, small creatures that enhance your combat abilities through stats and by releasing them, activating a power. You use Psynergy outside of battle to affect the environment and solve puzzles. The best part of Golden sun is the dungeons that you encounter in the game. Psynergy is basically what this game uses instead of magic, they are effects which you use in battle and sometimes in the world that cost PP, which is basically mana. What makes Isaac extraordinary is he is one of the few adepts in Weyard, that is, he can use Psynergy. You play as Isaac, a boy living in the town of Vale which is shadowed by Mt. Operating System: Arch Linux with xorg 1.19.Golden sun is easily one of my favorite RPGs ever, and definitely the best on GBA (besides it's sequel, The Lost Age!) #GBA GOLDEN SUN ROM DOWNLOAD DRIVER#Sound driver (directsound, xaudio, openal, SDL): OpenAL and SDL. Video driver (simple, opengl or cairo): Simple and OpenGL Which games, if any, are NOT affected by the issue: Every other game that I've tested. Which games are affected by the issue: Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age, both GBA games. In TLA, there's also a little cutscene before that with images and text, which you can skip with Start. Simply load any of the mentioned games and go through the initial naming screen. I haven't tested other versions but I think it's safe to assume it'll also happen with them. This seems to happen with both the english and japanese version and with both the original Golden Sun and its sequel (Golden Sun: The Lost Age). If you manage to get through the initial cutscenes somehow and control your character blindly so he can go to another screen, all of the above bugs happen, making the game completely unplayable. Scenery ends up glitchy when camera moves. Once Isaac's mother moves, her sprite also moves so much that she goes out of screen. Isaac's sprite, which should just jump out of the bed, goes right until it's off-screen. Actual behaviorĪs soon as you pass through the naming screen and the main character (Isaac) goes out of bed, everything in the game gets glitchy. The game should render the graphics and move sprites like the GBA does.
